Choose the spoken language, not the phone's language.
Your iPhone's preferred language and the language of a recording are not always the same. You might use your phone in English but record a meeting in Danish. If recognition uses the wrong language, it can produce English-looking words that sound a little like the Danish audio.
Rec 1.1 includes a Transcript Language picker with Pro. Selecting the language explicitly is the first thing to try. It tells speech recognition which language to expect; it does not translate the recording into another language.
- Open Rec and tap the drive-shaped backup button at the top right. This screen also contains the recording settings.
- Find Recording Details, then tap Transcript Language.
- Choose Danish for Danish speech, or the matching language offered for your recording.
- Return to your recording.
Already have the wrong text? Transcribe again.
Changing the language setting does not rewrite a transcript already saved. Open the recording's details and tap Transcribe Again. If it has not been transcribed before, the action is called Transcribe Recording.
Wait for the transcription to finish, then compare a short section with the original audio. The new result replaces the previous transcript. Use Share Transcript first if you want to keep a copy of the old text.
Automatic transcription is optional. Enable Auto Transcribe New Recordings in the same settings screen only if you want Rec to process new recordings automatically. Otherwise, transcribe individual recordings when you need text.
Treat a transcript as a starting point.
Choosing the right language helps, but no speech recognition is perfect. Background noise, overlapping speakers, accents, and a microphone far from the speaker can all affect the result.
Check names, dates, amounts, and important instructions against the audio before relying on them. A mixed-language conversation may not fit one language setting well. Keep the original recording as your reference.
Once the transcript is saved, you can search its words in Rec's full recordings library. A descriptive recording title still helps: a person, topic, or project name is easier to recognize than an unnamed file.
Language support and internet access.
Rec uses Apple Speech Recognition. Support depends on the selected language, your device, and service availability. Some languages require Apple's online recognition service, so transcription is not guaranteed to work offline.
If Rec reports that transcription is unavailable, check the chosen language, speech-recognition permission in iOS Settings, and your internet connection. Selecting a language does not make an unsupported service available.
OnePress does not receive or store your recording or transcript on its own servers. When online recognition is needed, Apple's service processes the audio. Read the privacy policy for the distinction between local recording, optional transcription, and optional backup.
